Social Marketing Leads to Real Life Connections at Conferences & Events

Social Marketing Leads to Real Life Connections at Conferences & Events

Social media is an essential ingredient of internet marketing and is energizing the field to face to face marketing at trade shows and conferences.  New media technologies make it easier than ever to create meaningful relationships prior to, during, and after face to face events.

Integrating social media and trade show (face to face) marketing is a business development strategy that will prove invaluable in the coming years.  Many people are actively engaged in social marketing techniques and every few weeks new tools emerge to improve upon this process.

The Virtual Trade Show is a new social media tool that is not talked about too often.  Virtual Trade Show venues are high tech through and through, combining webcasting, text, video and group chat, blogging, virtual booth space, forums and ample opportunities for brand marketing.

Virtual Trade Shows appeal to the green market because they reduce the massive carbon footprint of all of the travel and freight involved with a traditional show.  They appeal to show goers because of the ease of access.  Keynote addresses and conference presentations can be viewed live or on demand.

Integrating the social media technologies of Virtual Trade Shows with Live Trade Shows is already taking place, and this will continue as more people make use of these techniques.  One thing is for sure, developing meaningful relationships with potential clients is getting easier than ever.

Innovation
The owners of ExPrT, Russ DuQuaine and Scott Siebenlist, believe it is important to commit to innovation… even in hard times.
“Our company is built upon a solid foundation of experience. When it gets down to it, hard times challenge us to become more creative with less. We see this as an opportunity for innovation,” says Siebenlist. “This is why we are committed to keeping up with the latest technology for our website. The new ExPrT website provides links to our blog, easy access to our display supplies, product videos, and an online portfolio of our work.”

Free Popup Display Rentals
ExPrT is celebrating the launch with a promotion for Free Popup Display Rentals.
“Our new Free Popup Display Rentals include the use of our 8′curved Expolinc popup display hardware for one week.  The client simply pays for the mural graphic and shipping.  It is a great way to go green by re-using display hardware, and our clients save money in the process. Offer is limited to availability. Additional details are listed on the ExPrT website,” says Siebenlist.

Social Media Drives ExPrT Success
ExPrT attributes part of their online success to the web developers at KD Interactive because of their outstanding SEO technology.

Beyond our website and company blog, we have a presence on a variety of social media sites like: ExhibitFiles, LinkedIn, Twitter, SohoBizTube, Facebook, Green Museums, and TSNN.  We even started a LinkedIn Group called “Greener Tradeshows” to share information and stay on the cutting edge of industry trends.”

We have been featured on sites like the Trade Show News Network and The Green Familia.

Poised to Expand in 2009
“2009 is shaping up to be a year of expansion as we get ready to launch a new traveling exhibit for children’s museums, showcase new eco-friendly exhibit choices, and increase our online presence in the portable trade show industry.  The ExPrT website will be a vehicle of communication as we launch new initiatives throughout the year,” says DuQuaine.

Green Tips for Event Organizers

Posted by: Mary | Comments (0)

Event organizers have the ability to determine the context and culture of the event they are planning. Start your marketing efforts using green materials and commit to staying green. Sometimes the best thing we can do is offer less – by offering less, we all consume less.

Green Show Standards

Maintaining green standards for all exhibitors is essential as well as providing resources to make going green easier. Simple things like changing to organic food suppliers, banning plastic water bottles, offering recycling bins throughout the venue, and following up to make sure that the recycling products are properly sorted are minimum expectations. Additional offerings could include alternative energy to power the show.

Live Up to Visitor Expectations

Visitors to green trade shows are possibly some of the most earth-conscious people on the planet. So, greenwashing will be called out, and sustainable exhibiting practices will be respected.

Visitors will look for easy access to recycling, alternative options for food and water, and feel comfortable talking with exhibitors about how they are incorporating green exhibiting practices in their exhibit.

Practice the 3 R’s of Green Events

Rentals, Recycled Products and Re-usable Products are the three R’s of trade show exhibiting. Renting local exhibit structures can help save on high energy freight costs. Look for recycled products for displays. Some things don’t appear to be greener materials. For example, you may be surprised to see how amazing fabric made of recycled plastic can look. Choose quality products that can give you years of use with the ability to recycle components at the end of their use.

Green Event Suppliers

Most professional exhibit companies are savvy to green options by now. Internet groups like the LinkedIn Group “Greener Tradeshows” are a great source for free information. And, of course, ExPrT is on the cutting edge of green event products, give us a call 1-800-544-4492.

Greener Tradeshows

Posted by: Mary | Comments (0)

There are so many new ways to change how we do business with social networking technologies. Traditional revenue streams may dry up, but opportunities for building new business relationships have never been better.

This is why ExPrT started a new LinkedIn group called “Greener Tradeshows” for entrepreneurs and marketing professionals who are looking for eco-friendly display options.

Greener Tradeshows is a leading resource for event professionals who want to provide cleaner and greener trade shows, conferences and expos. Many green entrepreneurs and marketers need sources for greener products. This networking group provides a venue where people can sort through the greenwashing to find the best options for sustainable exhibiting practices.
Topics include:
  • greener display products
  • greener sign and graphic materials
  • green business networking
  • re-using with rentals
  • and green trade show tips

I think that trade shows are an essential part of relationship networking, and always have been. There is nothing like in-person contact. But, getting to know people before the show via LinkedIn, Facebook and industry specific associations will help to make each contact more valuable.

We are saturated with so many marketing messages that we can often be running on information overload. That is why building relationships is still so important in business. Use trade shows for meet-ups and in-person networking.
